I don't know for sure, but have been told that they have something to do with cell phones. I'm not sure how you would find out for sure.

I remember when these were built more than 10 years ago. They definitely are not for cell phones, as they were built long before cell phones became popular.

My brother works for denver water, and he says that they are pump houses for underground wells. They simply built the houses around them for aesthetic reasons, and form preventing vandalisim.

I've often wondered that myself. I know it's nothing to do with cell phones. They've been there too long for that. I think think maybe well pump houses or something to do with water because the windows are always steamed up.

Used to commute past them when I lived out there. I was told same thing as Patricia - some attempt to disguise/protect some switching equipment.
