I been on yasmin previously and recently switched to mercilon because of the lower price.. In just 5 days i experienced nausea, water retention all over, dry uncomfortable eyes and sticky mucous from nostrils and eyes Then worst i developed a large painful sore on my ear! This is the worst side effects i ever experienced from BC pill so far.. This is puzzling indeed as I checked the package info and it states that mercilon has a lower dose of estrogen than yasmin? My question: 1) Has anyone experienced similar problems with mercilon before? 2) is this caused by the new pill or accumulation of estrogens in my body? I have been on yasmin for 3 mths before this. 3) If i stop mercilon now shd i continue straight to a packet of yasmin or shd i wait? But my period would come too earlier once i stop since its only been 5 days...

This could be related to the changing from the Yasmin to the Mercilon but I would recommend getting back in touch with your doctor to let them know what's going on.

As for the trying to get Yasmin again because of the cost at the pharmacy ask your doctor if they have samples of the Yasmin. Getting samples if available can help reduce cost as well. I try to do this with some of my medications including my birth control pill if I can.
