He's one of them. The people here, I don't know what they are thinking. How do they know what the man is about?
Well, he's one of the best of all time and he's got tons more character than Barry Bonds or Kenny Rodgers. Let them moan. They are just crabby from having tithed away their holiday bonuses.

nolan ryan? he had a lower personal winning pct as a pitcher than his teams he played for! so to say ryan you obvisiouly didnt watch anything other than the stros or rangers. ryan is nothing compared to the greatest pitcher ever, much less player! i say bonds. bonds before he got big averaged 37 hrs and 33 sbs a year with a 300 avg and gold gloves every year and his team always was a top notch team too. a rod has the age and numbers. he will hit 800 hrs or even break the world hr record which is like 860 by sora oh or whatever his name is. but bonds is a better patient hitter, that is all that seperates the two, if a rod can start walking 150 times a year and gets a ring then he will be the man. ryan! lol! how funny! he played in the dome and at shea and still had a career era than even roy oswalt who has played in minute maid his whole career. what a joke!

Sorry, I've watched Barry Bonds. I watched him when he played for the Pirates. A-Rod can't compare. Besides comparing a ARROGANT, EGOTISTICAL Third baseman to a OUTFIELDER is just silly. The Outfielder will win the argument almost every time.
Oh and what makes you so sure he didn't use 'roids? Don't say anything about tests either because Bonds NEVER failed a test.

honestly, a-rod has had some good years and some not-so-good years. but he is a great clutch hitter (excluding postseason) and an above avarage feilder. al though i do agree with the other dude that said that he needs to carry a team to the World Series. I don't agree about the part with Ortiz because in the WS he didnt hit a single homer (excluding the rest of the postseason). and he is a below-avarage first baseban. but alex is arguably one of the best players in history. and i give him 5 years and he will have broken the home run record.

Stats dont make you the greatest player. The end goal is a World Series. So guys like David Oritz with 2 rings are better. He can carry his team when needed. A-rod has been one of the biggest choke and over rated players i have seen play. In the end i would have to go with Nolan Ryan though i was privliged enough to watch him play a few games when i was a kid. Greatest player i have watched.

Whoever said Jeter is a primo defensive shortstop needs to get out a little more. He's a slightly above average SS at best and can hardly go to his left at all. I know he can make the play in the hole & get the runner with a jump throw but that's about it. He's more a product of playing in NY than superior talent.

A-Rod is not even close to the greatest player I've ever seen play. Seaver , Mantle , Rose , B.Robinson, O.Smith start my list and about 20 or 30 players later A-Rod's name might appear or then again it might not.

He is a great player but I still think Derek Jeter is a better fielder. Other than that, A-Rod is awesome in almost every aspect of the game. He's a great shortstop but had to move to third base because Jeter owned the shortstop position. His batting skills are no doubt top five of all history. I think he gets bashed on so much because of how big his contract was. I mean $250 mil?!?!?!?!? Sheesh. But the Yanks signed it so they must've agreed to the terms so he is definitely worth it.
Peace

Personal stats and great plays aren't what make you a great player in my opnion..it's also what your like as a person. You could be a good outfielder no one knows about except the fans in that city but if your one of the nicest to the fans and have good intentions, I think you are one of the greatest players.

NO. He is NOT the greatest player I have ever seen.
I've seen better.
Hank Aaron comes to mind as does Al Kaline.
