making use of the Quadratic formula: x = -b plus and minus the sq. root of b^2 minus 4ac throughout 2 a substituting the given to the formula, we get: x = (- 15 +- (SQRT((15)^2- 4(9)(-6)) / 2 (9) first solved the quantity in the sq. root it somewhat is b^2 minus 4ac you get 225+216 the sq. root of 441 = 21 so which you get -15 + 21/ 2(9) and the different -15 - 21/ 2(9) x = (-15 + 21)/ 18 x = 2/3 (-15-21)/18 x = -2

You have two sides to an equation. You would put it into the equation exactly as you phrased it in your question.
"Number X is equal to another number (n) plus the square root of three."
So "number X equals"...
--> X=
"Number (n) plus the square root of 3"...
--> N + √3

Your formula is,
--> X = N + √3
