I saw Kanon2006 and i liked it. It showed a preview for Clannad at the end so I was thinking .. Great! a continuation ... but after seeing five episodes of Clannad ... i'm beginning to feel rather disappointed. Am I missing something? Or do you feel the same about this?

Oh sorry i didn't include the reason ... i was disappointed because i was expecting a continuation of Kanon and Clannad seems like a totally different anime ... but some characters look familiar ... i'm trying very hard to look for the connection. THANKS for the answer Mat!

I really enjoyed Kanon, and I am thoroughly enjoying Clannad right now. We've really only seen Fuuko's arc though, so if you don't like her, I could see how you wouldn't like it. I say give it at least one other arc before you truely judge it though.

Clannad also seems to have a lot more humor in it then Kanon ever did, so that may detract from it for you as well. Or maybe you don't like the fact that there is another prominent male character. Or if you really, really loved Kanon, it may just be that you have had unrealistic expectations for Clannad. I'm not sure why you don't like it right now, but I'm really enjoying it, and most of my friends (the ones who watched Kanon) are as well.

EDIT:
Yeah, Clannad is most definitely not a continuation of Kanon in any way, shape, or form. Where they are similar is that they were both originally games made by Key, and were both turned into anime by KyoAni. Key has produced other games as well: Air, One, Planetarian, Little Busters, Tomoyo After, and a few others that I can remember. Of these, the first two were also made into anime series.
