In many states, gender equality laws make it illegal to ban girls, unless there is a separate girls team. But you say your parents won't let you. Very different. Some of their reasons could be legitimate. you should try to engage them on the matter in a very calm manner when the time seems right. Hear them out and don't discount their point of view. Also, think about why you really want to do this. Have you really thought the implications through?

No, i am not a sexist, but we're talking about the most physical sport in the world. If you were a kicker, yes than that is fine. but to put you on offense of defense would be dumb, for you, the coach, and the players on the other team. i hate to say that girls shouldn't play football, but there is a reason there isn't such a thing as girls football, it's too dangerous physicallly

I don't think that legally they can prevent you from trying out. However, there's no law that can force a high school football coach to put a female on his football team.

There have been a few girls that have played high school football. Most all have been kickers. Bottom line, a girl in full contact football with boys will get hurt. Coaches don't want that liability.

I had a girl on my high school football team, she was just a kicker though. Obviously its a question of toughness in taking a hit. Most high school teams that are approached by a girl wanting to join have no rules against it and have allow you to at the very least try out.

ok, i'm a girl, so i see where you're coming from. However (this may sound rude), but football is a man's sport. i love watching it, however I feel only men should play it. I dont think women should be allowed to play on any football team, regardless of the level.

Law says unless their is a team for the girls, with equal funding/etc then the coach has to allow the females on the team. Nothing says they have to allow them to play.
Now if your parents dont want you to that is another story.. They as legal guardians can keep you off. And the coach has to go by their wishes. Hence the permission slips needed for most HS sports.

well some coaches dont want to deal with any problems that parents might complain about
,maybe they are against girls playing
or maybe they just are not sure how the guys will react and think u might be a distraction
but they cannot discriminate against you trying out
just dont believe that ALL men and coaches are like this
here in texas there have been a good number of girls who have played and made the team so .....

They legally can't prevent you. And girls also can play contact positions. An old OSU player named Nick Mangold had a sister who played Center for the varsity football team in high school. And seeing her play she was better than a lot of guys at the position.
