Put stuff up on youtube and send your songs/demos to some labels. It's really hard to get your stuff heard, unfortunately. Make a website or something. Just try to get your name out there.

ye more or less lyk wht the person sed above! you could write toblogs and send them your music lyk one song and ask them to advertise them on their website if you don't mind people downloading for free, google it - e.g '(insert genre of music" blog'
also have a myspace page...write on others to listen to your music
do the whole youtube thing and just get your name out there! let all your mates know pass it on by mouth...

Try the "Tune Core" website - I'm going to be doing that myself.
BTW: use the "check spelling" feature on here - I do.
