Meaning: When singing a sacred piece (any sacred piece), they are so bent on the technicality of it, they forget the real meaning of the piece (and the composer's intention) is to glorify God.

It makes me sad when this happens.

When we become so focused on the music itself, we forget its true purpose

The technicallity of it is important too. I hate hearing a beautiful work butchered by folks who ignore the musical aspect of what they are doing. It won't automatically sound good just because you have good intentions.

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well. Kudos to your choir director for not letting you phone it in, but to really work at making music.

It is to the greater glory of God if it's done well. God is revealed in the details.

My church choir is a fun choir and our director shante she is going crazy because we dont want to do the march thats she wants us to do in our anniversary. And she stormed out of the rehearsal and forgot her stuff trying to be diva and cute just because she is a fashion designer. Ans she got to the rehearsal late anyway.

OMG no way, not mine. I love my choir teacher. All we do is classical music, and he always explains to us what we are singing and makes sure we sing it with the right emotions. He tells us that even if people cant understand what we are singing (since most of it is in italian) he says that the audience can understand our emotions. I wish you could have our teacher, since yours obviously has no clue....
