I'm interested in buying a 1996 eclipse, but the guy selling it says it needs a new lifter spring, and I have no idea what that means. Feedback?

lifter, is the common term for a valve tappet. sounds like this car has an engine problem and he may or may not know what he is talking about. I would stay away, unless you know how to rebuild engines!

Lifters have springs inside and they will get weak with age and sometimes break, the springs help the oil pumped into the lifter keep the lifter operating properly. Having said that, I think the Eclipse has an overhead cam engine which means there are no lifters, the valves are actuated by the camshaft. If this is the case the car may have a broken valve spring which is a fairly easy fix if you are mechanically inclined and have or can borrow the tools needed, but could be an indication of other possible problems.

it means that you are a beaver and need to go live in the jungle of missouri. afterward a demon will grant you a wish... at this point you will wish for your car. the demon will not grant you your car but will instead start singing show tunes. then a narwall comes along with papa smurf as a hostage and at this point you wake up from this dream of insanity.
