Myth or truth? Piazza Navona Statues on the fountain of the 4 rivers built by Bernini are shielding their eyes in horror of Borromini's church of St.Agnes...implying that the church was out of proportion (or would have been, since some say the fountain precedes the church!). Was it a case of 'sour grapes' for not having been chosen to build the church? Is there any historical truth to this?

Wikipedia say no.
"An oft-repeated, but false, anecdote tells that one of the Bernini's river gods defers his gaze in disapproval of the facade of Sant'Agnese in Agone (designed by the talented, but less politically successful, rival Francesco Borromini). However, the fountain was built several years before the façade of the church was completed."
