If you're flying into Denver, find out how much the airline wants to make it Aspen instead.
Otherwise train to Glenwood and bus. Note that, in winter, the train is sometimes late because of weather.

Have you looked into renting a car? I live in Denver and 8 of my buddies flew into Denver to go to Aspen last winter. I could only fit 4 of them in my car. So, the 5 others determined renting a car was the cheapest way to get there after looking into buses, shuttles, etc.
The rental car companies have places to drop off/pick up cars in Aspen. So, they rented a car at the Denver airport, drove to Aspen and dropped off the car, and then rented a car in Aspen to go back to Denver. I think it was only like $40 a day plus gas.
