Earlier. Because at "5 pm" it's actually going to be 6 pm which is darker, so it's getting darker earlier.

Daylight savings starts on the 8th I believe... We are going back an hour...so it will be getting dark earlier... You can tell about Mid October that the time should be changing soon ... In the Spring It gets darker later ... longer summers ya know .... Fall..ya go back ... always remember ...SPRING FORWARD AND FALL BACK...

This has been answered well here, but here's a test to understand this for yourself. Look outside right now and note the time. Then, after thge switch to standard time tomorrow, look outside at the same time on your watch that you have calibrated to standard time (which means you've turned it back one hour). You will see that it is darker now than it was yesterday (or has been darker one hour longer than yesterday if you start this comparision at night).

It won't make it get dark earlier, it will get dark at about the same time as the day before, but what the clock shows will be earlier.

Well, shoot,,,everyone already told you.....the only way I can get best answer is if I came up with a really clever thing to say...which just won't happen...I don't do clever..

I was late to go somewhere with my SIL last year,,,she said it was okay, she hadn't expected me to be aware of the change-over anyway. How do you react to that?
