I lost the product authenticity code for my windows xp cd, I want to know if there is a way to recover it.

i dont have it installed on the computer. And those programs only work if i have it installed

Although there are several programs to find the "key" you are asking about, I agree with the above answer.....HOWEVER, if you are trying to install ...let's just say, a copy of XP that you may have gotten from someone, it won't matter if you have the key. You will still have to "activate" the operating system. If someone else already has that particular "key", there is amost nothing you can do...There are some ways around this, but this is the only legal advise I can give you.

GOOGLE it, there are ways to locate the key within the registry.

A quick google for
XP FIND KEY came up with

if you registered your computer, you can get the number back by calling microsoft
