When my 3 month old daughter needs her diaper changed I always wash her bottom with water (I actually hold her under the faucet) and then apply Mustela Bebe Hydrant (lotion).

I have a friend who has the Mustela Cleansing Milk and she says that you don't need to use water just use the Cleansing Milk (of course she wipes away poo if it is there).
Do you think this cleans enough? Isn't that just like rubbing the pee around mixed with the cleansing milk instead of actually washing it off?

Candy. ABSOLUTELY I use water to clean myself after using the toilet EVERYTIME, it is actually part of my religion to be clean. If you got pee or poo on your hand would you just wipe it off with toilet paper? YUCK

And time or energy? Energy is short these days with a small one in the house but I wouldn't do any less for her because I am tired. Time is how you use it. It takes no longer to change her in the bathroom than anywhere else.

lol, of course I HAVE baby wipes I just think cleaning her with water is nicer plus she loves to be in front of the mirror when I take her in the bathroom! lol. Mostly I use wipes when we are out of the house.

Is this the same friend that uses purified water to cleanse her nipples before she breast feeds but then leaves her baby in the same diaper all day? Please, stop discussing these things with her!

I'm with you on this but just a thought....lets say this cleansing milk works just as well...what kind of money would one be spending on this kind of stuff? Of course if you only do a diaper change once a day like that one girl then I guess you wouldn't be spending a lot. LOL I think some ppl like to think a lot of themselves by using a million and one products.

EDIT: I looked this stuff up. Your friend doesn't know what she is talking about!!! This stuff mixes WITH water for a BATH (not a rinse) and there is no need to rinse because there are no suds. They make it sound like it has a calming effect on the baby so that they can sleep easily too.
EDIT2: I had the wrong product but now I found it and she is still wrong. You are supposed to rinse this stuff off with water!! Read the instructions on the third link below!

Washing the baby with water is wonderful.
More people should do that to avoid diaper rash, which is just the poor baby skin being irritated by being int he wet or dirty diaper for way too long.
Keep washing the baby, you are doing what is right.
YOur baby will probably never have a rash this way.

Have you read the back? Does it have instructions on it? I have never used the product, but, I would say if the stuff doesn't kill bacteria, then I would use something else to cleanse her, the faucet thing you do already should be sufficient.

I would continue doing what you are doing....maybe not at every diaper change tho. You can use the baby wipes most of the time.

What happened to wipes? My daughters get a bath every night, but I dont have the time or energy to wash their bottoms every single time they need a change. Do you do that for yourself?

I wouldn't just rub feces and urine into my baby's skin. I would most definitely wash her off with water.

definitely wash it off, you would not want to risk your baby's health. The way you are doing it is just fine. Hope this helps.
