Amniotic fluid is clear, thicker than urine and very sticky. You won't be able to hold it in like you can with urine, and your movements will change the flow. For example, when my water broke sitting down or standing up made the fluid come out really heavily, but if I was lying down it only dripped out. Once your water breaks, you will keep leaking fluid until your baby is delivered. There will be no mistaking it, you'll be soaking through your clothes, towels, pads - whatever you try to use to absorb it; at least that was my experience!

It's pretty well clear, but , may be blood tinged as well. If you're not sure what it is .. go and see your OB/GYN right away. Amniotic fluid is essential in keeping infections away from your baby. At your OB/GYN's office, they can do something called a "Fern" test, and can readily access as to whether or not it is amniotic fluid that you are leaking. Wishin' you a healthy, happy pregnancy. :)

Amniotic Fluid is either clear or yellowish (since it's mostly baby urine). You may be leaking for a long time before your water leaks. Have your OBGYN check you out.
