Hopefully disconnecting & reconnecting the printer as ThuhaH recommends will work for you.

Some ink and toner cartridges have a computer chip on them that counts the number of uses. The chip's sole job is to report back to your computer that the cartridge is empty (even if the cartridge has been refilled).

There was a well publicized class action lawsuit against Lexmark for intentionally crippling inexpensive 3rd party cartridges as well as refilled Lexmark cartridges. It was a form of price fixing.

To see if your printer is a model affected by this practice, try searching google for something like "REFILLING printer model INK CARTRIDGE" and see if anyone else has had the same issue with your model printer.
(Most of the major printing companies were doing it until Lexmark was busted).

99% certain your ink cartridge is a "chipped" one, but you don't mention printer model.

Go back to the place that filled it and complain. If it needs the chiip reset THEY should do that as they fill it. !

Hi Camilla
If your printer is connected by USB, then disconnect it and then reconnect and see if that does the trick.
