How long is to long to try to get pregnant on your own? I"ve been trying for 2 1/2 years. I haven't tried fertility drugs or treatment and I"m hesitant about it. BUt how long is to long to try on your own before giving up? Is it safe to say it't not going to happen or should I not give up hope yet? I don't know if maybe I want it so bad I stress myself out about and that's why it's not happening!

if you are under age 35 then after 1 years of trying on your own you need to contact your dr. if you are over age 35 you need to contact your dr after 6 months of trying

Well it depends on how old you are if the clock is ticking before menopause i would go see a doctor if not i would wait it out

One of my friends stressed herself out so bad with this subject
She was18-19 at the time and tried for 3 years to get pregnant i told her that it would happen no hurry and dont worry (me i get pregnant just thinking about sex!!!lol) Well anyways She is 24 and has 2 beautiful children It will happen and if you feel like its just been to long go and see yourself a doctor dont stress sex is supposed to be fun and you might as well enjoy it now cause when those babies come Good luck!!! LOL

PS I wish i had that problem I stress so much about birth control I never make it the full year after my babies born before i get pregnant again!!!

12 months of sex every other day with no pregnancy is normally what fertility specialists expect before they start looking for a problem.

If you're older, they'll sometimes move a little faster.

If you've been 'trying' i.e. a couple times a month for a couple of years, pick up the pace.

If you've been having sex at least every other day for that time, it would be appropriate to start talking to doctors now.

I think up to one year is ok. After that, you should see a doctor. Sometimes, they will just give you something so small, like a pill or something, and it'll happen. It really doesn't necessarily mean that something big is wrong with you.

You really need to ask yourself- Do I really need a child? Should I really bring another life into this F*cked up world we live in? Doesn't this Earth have enough people already?
Seriously, we have too many peeps as it is, but everybody acts like they just have to have kids. The world would do much better if everyone didn't reproduce.

I don't think you can will yourself to not get pregnant. but I'd say try for like 3 years maybe and then attempt treatment.
