I mean literally. Apparently even though he hated cigarette smoke, drunkenness and recreational drug use, he was on a lot of uppers and downers and increasingly so as his empire crumbled. This may have been a significant factor in his bizarre behaviour. Just curious.

(apparantly Goering was a major morphine addict among other things but its hard to confirm as people rarely talk about this aspect of Nazi history)

P.S. - for the record I hate the Nazis and everything they stood for, I'm just a student of History and trying to understand what went on in this dark period of human history.

no really knows exacly what but he was taking amphetamines, invented in 1919 in japan and some anti-physcotics and others.does this explain there behaviour maybe to some degree but the whole nazi empire and ideology was very bizzare.here is a question for you if hitler had died or was taken out by military coupearly in the war say1942 what do you believe would have happened.i found this question when i was going to ask it and a lot of people were under the opinion that they would have asked for peace.my belief is they would have pulled back out of russia shorten up the front line and go more on the defensive.this plan was actully drawn up my german military commanders after there defeat outside moscow in 1941 and the idea was to fall back 200 miles to the perapet marshs, you can find it on maps, quite a large region and just go defensive .but also destroy as mucg as possible but hold onto farming regions the ukraine, and industial centers.then put pressure on britian to sue for peace.what is your thought. just adding the first answer meth was actually used by all sides during the war.all soldiers had it in there packs.it is still used today by pilots on long missions to keep them alert so nothing has really changed

The soldiers and guards were fed a steady diet of meth. Don't know what the Furher himself did.
