Yes. The best clue of this is that they advertise for Christmas as early as the Fourth of July now.

All of the major holidays are overly commercialized. However, that does not mean that we cannot enjoy Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc. anyway. Even if our society has commercialized Christmas, it doesn't mean that we have to do so too. We can still celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, which is Jesus Christ's birth, despite what the rest of our society is doing.
"The 'Christmas blues' and 'Ba-humbugs' are just a state of mind. It is ultimately your choice how you feel about Christmas." Personally, I love it. I play Christmas carols on my stereo, decorate the house in a festive spirit, burn pine and cinnamon scented candles, put bird seed out for the birds, and prepare a small variety of Christmas cookies and candy. I surround myself with good friends and family and get the Christmas cards ready. And I do it all to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who gave His life as the final sacrifice for my sins.

It depends where you live and how well off you are. I now find I need very little in the way of tangible things, yet there is this custom that almost forces people to give each other "things" so you end up accumulating, and wasting, more and more. Yes, it has become too commercialized.
In spite of that, I actually think the biggest danger is losing Christmas as we know it altogether. Political correctness in many places has caused many rites and symbols of Christmas to disappear.Christmas to flal by the wayside. We should retain and cherish the many traditions of Christmas.

Yes, by the stores. Now I think some people would think that I am if they looked at my house at Christmas. We go ALL OUT, lights on everything, big blow-up snowman, sleigh on the roof. We start decorating as soon as we take down the Halloween stuff but don't turn the lights on till the day after Thanksgiving.
I think that people forget what Christmas is for.

Christas is way too over commercialized but that is because people want people to shopp at there stores and Christmas is the #1 shopping season so all of the stores want to get there ads out so they can make money over the holidays but to tell you the truth, it was never religious. It's just an excuse. Hope this helps.

No, I don't...the original date of December 25 was chosen by the emperor Constantine to include the winter solstice, and all the pagan rituals included therein, slowly absorbing pagans into Christianity and attempting to unite Europe under one religion (some of those rituals linger to this day...Christmas trees, holly, mistletoe). So, if you think about it, Christmas has always been a sell-job. It's tradition.

I think Christmas has become Santa Clause Day. People pay more attention to an unseen character whom they are told to believe in since they were kids only to grow up and find out the truth that he is fake. How are they supposed to believe in an unseen God. No wonder people are becoming atheists.
Oh, and just so I can put it in spelling that atheists can understand:
Know wunder peepoll R B-coming aceasts.
It's called Christmas with a capital "C". Put the Christ back into Christmas.

Yes .. you know it's overly commercialized, when you get a Christmas Wish-book from Sears, in August!!
BTW: I realllllllly don't like those fake, white Christmas trees ... to me, it seems to take commercialism one step further. :(

yes definitely! Everything is overpriced and overrated. It takes the true meaning out of Christmas. What's next Halloween gifts!!!?!!! It is still my favorite holiday, though. I don't let the retailers determine what Christmas is supposed to be about!!
