Our policy is that if someone orders made to measure gowns, there is no refund because they cannot be sold to anyone else, being as the measurments are to the individual. Anyway this bride to be has given me so much hassle and now, harrassment, I offered a refund but stated she would have to wait a while before I sent the money through. She has decided she does not want the dresses and I refused to remake the third one as the measurements for this girl had changed - she had hotten bigger in her waist. We have been pefectly nice to these girls, and I know they want the dresses right for the wedding, but we are a small bridal studio working from home, we cannot aford refunds on m2m dresses. What do you think I should do, as she is just being nasty, the value of her order was nearly £280, and she returned two dresses we made for her unopened.

Customers fiance left message saying that he is going to come down and get his money back, or cause enough damage to get it back...do I now call the police? I am not scared of him, I can deal with him but do not need this hassle. If he torches our home or damages my car, how I can prove it was him?

You were right first time.
The Police should be called every time you are threatened.

Put it in writing that your normal policy is not to refund, however on this occasion you will refund half of the cost. Also put in the letter that this is your final offer regarding the money, its over and above your normal policy of no refunds and that you feel it is fair considering you have been threatened by her fiance.
I do think you should contact the police, and advise that he has threatened to cause damage to property just so they have it on record. Also, do you have a answering machine recording of the threats? If so, you can pass these on to the police.
See what the police say, then tell her in your letter.
I think you have been more than reasonable even by offering her money back, I wouldnt have!
Good luck!

Obviously this couple need a serious talk from the police, she is being totally unreasonable, i reakon she is freaking out about the wedding and is taking the stress out on the only people that she can, its typical bully tactics.. as far as the fiance, the police will deal with him, don't allow yourself to be drawn into an arguement or violence..
As far as the answer above regarding the camera's etc, i'd say its a really good investment.. they are not that expensive and can be used to prove the actions of aggressive customers!!
Good luck!

It's not fair that they are behaving this way. You should report your concerns to the police - then, that should act as evidence if anything happens (though it won't be solid proof).
You could try selling the dresses that have been made to other people for a reduced price - so that you are not losing as much money. Would it be possible to take them in a bit if they did not fit perfectly? I'm sure poorer couples wanting a nice dress would be happy if this was possible!
Hope you get this problem sorted out soon! =)

Since this is a contract between you and her, be businesslike and don't allow her to threaten you. Tell her calmly that threats will be reported to the police. You've already done two dresses and been paid in full for neither, that you are terminating her contract with you and the refund you are giving her will be the end of your contact with her.
Any business needs to stick to their rules with aggressive customers or they loose too much business. Any threats need to be reported to police.

I would make a note and keep any evidence you have, they are probably getting angry because they are panicking, but it does not excuse them, if they torched your home, it would be easy for the police, if you have that evidence.
Anyways, for now, try ad work with them a bit more by telling them you want to help them, but whatever the circumstances, you refuse to be spoken to in that way.
Not sure how you run your business, but ever tried going on-line. I would recommend your own site not ebay.
Good luck whatever you do.

Call the police. I had someone threaten me a few months back & the police were great. They were quite prepared to arrest the guy but it was all resolved by a visit from them. Bullies often back down once the police are involved.

Q. If he torches our home or damages my car, how I can prove it was him?
A. Get a video camera / security camera, so that, if he does something to your home or car, you have a recording that shows him doing it.
Q. Whether to go to the police.
A. Yes. But it is the threatening fiance, not the woman, who should be reported.

I agree with Lulu - speak to the police and put it on record. You can always take her to the small claims court to try and get your money back.
