It depends on your reasons for bringing her. Funerals are less for the person who has passed and more for the people who are left behind grieving. I think there is nothing wrong at all with bringing your daughter and just go outside if she gets fussy (aisle seat, please.) It shows respect for the joy she brought to your grandfather's life and I think that's a nice way to honor him.

There is nothing wrong in taking a child that young to a funeral but you should just take her to the viewing not unless the viewing and funeral are on the same day. If the viewing and funeral are two different days then go ahead and take her. You probably do not want to take her to the funeral as she could end up crying. I had my first baby May 1971 and my grandmother passed away in Dec.1971 and I took him to the viewing. The funeral was the next day so I had someone babysit for me the day of the funeral.

Don't take the baby - get a sitter. Your daughter is far too young to understand or remember anything about the funeral, and if she gets fussy, it will just annoy everyone and disrupt the service, which you will miss, because you'll be standing outside with her. Give yourself a chance to show proper respect to your grandfather, and leave your baby at home.

When my grandparents passed, all the great-grandchildren were there. A funeral is a celebration of ones life and how better to do that than including all family members.
We did have a funeral home that had 'family rooms' in the basement where we had a fridge, micro wave, coffee pot and tables & chairs (I had one in a travelling playpen at my grandpa's funeral) so the kids had a place to hang out when the funeral home got busy with non-family visitors.
You can call funeral homes before hand and ask if they have such space available.
If your grandfather loved his granddaughter she should be there as a testament to his love.

A 7 month old baby won't know where she is or what she is doing there. Why are you confused, use your common sense. Get a baby sitter you trust to sit your baby during the hours of the funeral. Your grandfather, I am sure, will be smiling down at you, after he goes, saying "clever girl".
