I breastfed exclusively my daughter for her first six months and than started her on solids. She is 8 months now. I gained 44pounds during my pregnancy, and has lost so far 30 pounds. I lost them not with breastfeeding but with exercise and cutting down on some high calorie foods.

Seems breastfeeding is not a mirical diet plan as everyone says for me...

Now i got stuck on this weight and cant loose any more even if i go to the gym etc, what should I do to get back myself!?

Weight gain as it pertains to breast feeding is a fairly simple mathematical formula. Breast milk expels about 172 calories per 8 ounces. A 3 month old baby can chug down about 40 ounces a day. That means that you are expelling about 860 calories a day in breast milk. However, the human body is not perfectly efficient in making milk, so to produce 860 calories of breast milk, it is costing you about 1000 calories. So, if your regular diet is about *1700 calories a day (kinda normalish for a normal woman) then you can up it to 2700 calories a day when you are breastfeeding. Sooo,, if you are NOT breastfeeding and you are taking in more then *1700 calories, you are going to be gaining weight again.

*You will need to figure out your caloric intake recommendation based on height/weight/age/activity level on your own... or list those factors here and I can tell you exactly what you should be taking in.

I knew a woman who breastfed her baby, and she actually gained 50 more pounds! Breastfeeding isn't an automatic weight loss remedy, and it really depends on your body and your metabolism. You're doing an awesome job though! Having a baby causes a lot of changes in your body, so be patient. The weight will come off, just keep doing what you're doing.

Its only been 8 months, it usually takes 12 months for your body to return to normal. Keep up with the exercising and breastfeeding. Watch your diet and everything will change, you just need patience. Its only 14 pounds left...which is great!!!

Don't be so hard on yourself.

breast feeding helps contract the uterus. it doesn't help you lose weight. you may never be back to pre pregnancy size but keep at it. it may take some time as your body has gone through a lot of changes recently.

That's the joy of motherhood. Just keep doing what you're doing...and hopefully you'll get back on your feet with your regular weight.
