Just a few more days, that was all that I had with him. He was the love of my life, and after fifty nine glorious years, Alzheimer's was stealing him away from me. In the shadow of Clinch Mountain, we held hands on a brisk autumn day, as we strolled lover's lane. Looking at him now, I see only the man that I fell in love with, so many years earlier. We were about to arrive at the spot where he first proposed to me. It was a wrought iron bench nestled in the pine, and the view of the sun setting over the countryside below, was a piece of heaven on earth. I could hear him struggling to speak, as we arrived and sat, snuggled closely together. Still clutching my hand in his, he looked at me, with his brilliant green eyes, and said,
"Darling we are growing older, and sittin' on top of the world here with you, reminds me that, we are anchored in love divine." He took a deep breath then, and continued, "Should the good Lord decide that my journey has ended, know that I will always be at your side, you ARE my love!!" He leaned in and kissed me ever so gently then. He always was a hopeless romantic, and my everything. "Will you marry me again?" He asks, his eyes full of life. There was only one answer, "Yes..my love."

In (1) just a few more days, I'll be down at (4) Lover's Lane (2) in the Shadow of Clinch Mountain. I'll be alone this time, no longer (6) sitting on top of the world as I was when I was last here with Polly. Back then, it was (9) Polly Wolly Doodle all day, but that was before the (3) broken engagement. Yes, that's (7) why there is a tear in my eye now. But when I found out Polly was cheating on me with that "cracker" from Louisiana, I had to break it off.

In my mind, if Polly wants a cracker, she can have one!! "(5) Darling we are growing older." I said, "and your still putting on the Ritz, while I just want to settle down." And with that I headed here to remember the good old days one more time.

was "lover's Lane." Polly and Wolly, doodled all day. Anchored in love devine, they shared a long line of broken
engagements. They had heard their true love as for "just a few more days". " Darling you are my love, but I don't believe I can stay just a shadow, to one so devine". and "The clinch
of engagement, keeps knocking my world, I'm sorry, sittin'
here, brings a tear to my eye. I know your heart is broken.
yet I still must say good-bye."
Wolly, looked up from his tablet full of drawings. "Polly, Darling , I am at the window of my world, and not growing
any less in love, even as I hear that knockin' nagging truth,
I am not gettin' any younger." Wolly had doodled what he wanted to say, all day, into dusk. As the shadow of sunset
left the question hanging in the air "who's words devine inspiration could have broken the silence' between two
lovers anchored in fear.?" Polly relieved, with a tear , looked
up a Wolly, he called me darling, she thought. Wolly was on a roll as if in just a few more words they'd be head over heals
down a mountain of love. "I can't wait a few more minutes,
let alone a few more days. Polly Lane, I you are my world.
I have..." Wolly reached into his pocket, "OH," Poly exclaimed
"I can't believe my eyes." Wolly had what looked like the world's most devine, sparkling engagement ring. He did not
let even a few seconds pass. He clinched this moment, finally
asked for Polly's hand as the ring slipped upon her finger,
that devine day in the shadows of lover's lane-piper
