I have had a cold for a couple days and regular over the counter meds aren't working. I was wondering if there was a natural way to try first then I will go to the doctor. My symtoms are coughing and stuffy nose.

I always drink echanachea tea when I feel under the weather and also as a preventative. It's a natural herb that promotes a strong, healthy immune system. I drink the one labled echinachea Immune Support in the health foods isle at the grocery store or pharmacy. Hope this helps. And if you need to sweeten it, make sure you use honey, not sugar. Honey has healing properties of it's own. Lots of rest helps too, & try to fast since you probably lost your appetite as most do when you get sick. It's your bodies way of "shutting down the machine" so it can concentrate on your immune system.

I use a air purifier and use my melaleuca oil and solumel in it and also use the cough drops and I gargle with there mouth wash, I put the oil on my kids necks and forhead and around there nose and within a day or so they are better and so am I.
I also put the oil in a hot bowl of water and inhale it. These are safe and natural products and not having other toxins in my house has helped from my family ever getting Really sick. If you want info on it check the website I listed below. Hope you start feeling better real soon.

A cold works its way out of your body, drink plenty of liquids, have chicken soup it really helps the stuffiness and the broth has something in it that helps fight the cold, take your vitamin C, and keep taking it to prevent other colds.

If you get worst and develop high fever it may be the flu you then will need a prescription. Hope you get better soon, I hate colds.

Sadly no medications can shorten the duration of a common cold - only treat the symptoms. Colds usually work their way out in about 5 days - just make sure you get plenty of water, rest and treat yourself well.
