That happened to me 14 years ago.
The possessions I valued the most that I lost were my baby book, all our family pictures, my high school yearbook and memory book. Losing Topaz, my cat, was very painful.

I live in San Diego, and the wildfires four years ago got alarmingly close to where I was living.
Since then, I have scanned all my important physical papers, photographs, and my large collection of sheet music [I'm a musician] into PDFs and/or JPGs. The recent fires didn't come near me [I'm closer to downtown San Diego now], but if I ever have to leave quickly for whatever reason, I'll just take my laptop that holds all the files. I'd hate to lose my books and CDs, but that's what insurance is for [by the way, I have a Word file on the computer that contains an inventory of all those items].

As long as my Family got out, then my answer is the following:
The MANY pictures, my kids' baby books, and the geneology books I've made- ALL were time consuming, and the pics of my kids, all of the things about them from day one, would never be replaced. THAT would be very devastating to me.
GOD BLESS THOSE WHO HAVE LOST SO MUCH DURING THE RECENT FIRES AND THOSE FIRES ANYWHERE- Especially LOSS OF LIFE- Material things don't matter - PEOPLE CANNOT BE REPLACED, INCLUDING THEIR PETS.

Ok would family fall under material? wait that was stupid to ask nvm. I would be upset that all of my family photos were gone. Most that I could never get back because they were of loved ones that passed away a great deal ago. And the urn that has my grandfather in it.

I have been there. The one thing that hurt the most was losing my son's pictures from the time he was born up to three years old.

Does possessions include pets? Because that would hurt. Not because they are valued over the rest but because you interact with them most often.
If it doesn't include pets probably my bed. lol- I couldn't ever sleep in that wonderful bed ever again? That would hurt.
