Last night I recieved a message from a friend on messenger with a link. I tried the link but couldnt get anywhere and she said the same had happened to her earlier, this morning I cant get into that account.

She was not online at the time the link came to me but her messenger light was on. This is some kind of virus or hacking device. Please be careful.

be careful clicking on links from unkown people here on Yahoo Answers. i just read on another question where a girl had clicked on a link and got an instant virus. Then, the guy emailed her back and told her about a site her brother had looked up. She was asking for help also.

This is only my opinion:
I don't do the IM thing on Y/A ,
I've heard a lot of really terrible
things such as virus and worms,
so I just don't do it.
Now I do email people sometimes
to tell them something if I've used
up all my answers for the day,
because I think it might be
something they are really looking for
& no one else had the right answer.
I also am aware that there are a
lot of stalkers out here that take great
delight in targeting one or two people,
so be careful. Some persons out here
like to be the only ones with a opinion
& if they think that you have crossed the line,
they go after all your questions & answers.
Some of these jerks will set up
4 & 5 accounts just so they can target you.
There is a little notation in Community Guidelines
that says if 2 or more members report you
for the same reason, they will delete your
answer or your question.
I suppose when you get targeted by one of these jerks,
you can possibly lose your account,
that's why it is always good to
have a back up account.
I know several people who used
to be up on Level 5 or 6 and they got targeted
and they didn't fight it.
Not me, I fight when I think
that I may be someones target.
I know Y/A hates to even see my name
come up when they delete one of my answers.
I now put a little statement in most of my answers
that simply says,
it is my opinion that,
and then I state my opinion.
Every one is entitled to their opinion out here.

No, I don't use the messenger feature. I read something yesterday about not opening links, esp if they were from other countries. I guess we all need to be more cautious, thanks for letting us know about this.
