It will be fine, if you upgrade the graphics card to a 8800gts, you should get more than 20fps on max settings at that resolution then

If you stick with the 8600 you probably woudnt be able to play them on max settings.

Ignore the first answer that is just nonsense. the processor will decrease the loading times etc. E.g. if i had a 7 year old graphics card and that processor i wouldnt be able to play any games today really because the card is so poor.

It all looks good actually. In those games your FPSes should remain high and stable on high settings. But that won't be the case for newer games, like Crysis.
Also, don't forget about your operating system! That's very important. If you go with XP, you will be limited to DX9, which will bottleneck your graphic card, and also make Flight Sim not look as good.
Make sure you get at least Vista, so you can use DX10, and if you can spend the extra money (or use other ways), try for Vista x64 (64 bit) rather than x86 (32 bit).
My only suggestion is for you to consider getting a 8800 GT. Yes, a GT, not GTS. It may not sounds like it, but the 8800 GT is MORE POWERFUL than the 8800GTS, and costs less. It's based on a completely new chip from nVidia in case you're wondering why.
Otherwise, go for it!

BTW your PSU is perfectly fine. In actuality, that system might consume about 300W or so under load.

1. your PSU is way too low
2. the Chipset isn't that great
