first I have read most of what people wrote here and I am shocked that they mostly said your wrong. Well, I would say they are wrong. You can check your cervix and they recomend it. You defently make sure your hands are washed before anything. They say to check your cervix every day at the same time. I do in the morning. In the bathroom works best for me and other lay down but I can never reach my cervix when laying down. So sanding up or when on the toilet. I check it every day and chart it. I do know when I ovualte and when my period is comming in a few day. My cervix along with discharge tells all. To tell discharge whish can be hard when try for a baby because you can hardly tell from semen still comeing out. It put two fingers around your cervix and light sweeze together and look at the discharge to deteremine what your body is doing. Also, the girl that said about pushing on your cervix that is a good way too, thank you to her as I didn't even know that. But that what a doctor does. But if you know that you are pregnant then you shouldn't check your cervix any more because it can give infection much quicker. Good luck and keeping a chart will help you determine pregnancy alot better too!

LOL having read all the other answers I am guessing that they have never been in a situation like I was.
I took 4 pregnancy tests, all negative. But being my 3rd pregnancy I KNEW I was pregnant. I knew the signs! The doctor refused to do a blood test as he said the preg tests are so accurate these days it would have a positive result if I was pregnant. He even tried to suggest I was depressed?! lol
Anyhoo. I had quite a bad birth second time around and had to check my cervix after due to tears.
I had been told that once you have had a baby your cervix never completely closes unless you are pregnnat again.
To test you have to fel your cervix at the opening. Do not apply too much pressure but place one finger tip over the end and press slightly. if it gives way a little then you are not pregnant. If it is closed tight then you are! Your cervix opens slightly just before coming on...
This is how I knew for sure, mine was clamped shut. I booked myself in with the midwife, got an early scan and lo and behold there was my little baby!
I am not sure if you would be able to tell accurately unless you had already felt what your cervix was like when not pregnant. Every woman is different! I would reccomend getting a normal test and if it comes back negative and you still feel preg demand a blood test from the doctor.Other really early signs are the lowest part of your abdomen (Just above pubic bone) getting harder, achey boobs and or sore nipples. Slight feeling of dizzyness or scattyness, nausea and over emotional. Pretty much like when you are coming on! lol
Good luck... take a test! x

I am going to say that every person in here who freaked at the thought that someone could, and would, check their own cervix has never gone through months of trying to conceive, and has never taken the time to learn about the female body. Ignore their every word. If they don't know anything about it, they should keep their mouths shut to avoid looking like clowns.
Here is a link that will explain how to check it yourself:
http://www.babycenter.com/400_how-do-i-check-my-cervix-for-signs-of-ovulation_506585_1000.bc
That said, checking your cervix is not a reliable indicator of early pregnancy. After ovulation, your cervix will close, lower and become firm. At some point in pregnancy, it will become high and soft again, but for most women that doesn't happen until well after they have already found out.
I wish you the best of luck!

First of all, you need to wash your hands prior checking your cervix because if you're cervix is slightly open there is a chance for you to transfer bacteria to your cervix (the inside of your vagina is very sensitive). Insert your index finger in your vagina while you are sitting in the toilette. The cervix is the hard "ball" you feel at the end and top of your vagina. Check your cervix at the same time every time....I do it in the mornings and at night.
During you period your cervix feels a bit hard and the "opening" slightly open, so the blood can flow out. After your menstruation the cervix should close op, and the cervical mucus should be whitish/yellowish and dry. When ovulation is approaching the cervix opens up, the cervix feels a bit more soft and the cervical mucus should be wetter and clearer...the more open, and the more your mucus is clear and egg white and stretchy, the more fertile you are(when is the like this you are ovulating)...When ovulation is done, your cervix goes back to the hard and closed stage and the mucus turns dry and yellowish/white again...When you're approaching menstruation your cervix becomes slightly open and the mucus becomes a mixture of all cervix changes, dry, wet, white, clear...but the cervix remains hard.
This is not recommended to do to find out your pregnant though...however, when pregnant, your cervix is suppose to rise up, become softer and closed completely..Note that women that have had children or had procedures that required the cervix to dilate... the cervix opening might feel a bit open at all times. This cervical change in pregnancy can occur 7-12 days after ovulation or when you have missed a period completely (note that a period can be late for up to 2 weeks...its concider "normal")....it is best to check your cervix to find out your fertile days!!!!!!!!
Give yourself a couple of months or more to get to know your cervix.
Hope this helps EVERYONE.

I don't think you can see your cervix yourself. Even if you could, you wouldn't know what to look for unless you were trained to see changes. Take a pregnancy test. The only way for you to know at home without seeing a doctor.

Well, unless you have the required tools or can get your head around to see (AND know what you are looking for) I suspect the only way that you can be sure is to take a test.
Or go to your doctors. Just think about how deep your cervix is, then consider just how you can gain access to it - basically you can't.

It is not highly recommended because the cervix position in early pregnancy is different for all women. and the risk of infection.
What you what to look for happens at different time for different women.
At 9 dpo my was high and sponge like.
At 11 dpo my was med to low and hard, this was also the day I got a BFP.
I would say go ahead and test.
Good Luck
They say you should have the sponge like feeling

I do not know of one person who has examined their own cervix to find out if they are pregnant. Even the doctor does an internal examine by dialation to see if you are pregnant.
