the earth is starting to spin slower. other than that there is no friction in space, so it could revolve slower there is just nothing making it slow down

Actually, the Earth is slowing down VERY slightly regarding its rotation around its own axis. This is because of the drag from the tides, caused primarily by the Moon & amended by the Sun.

With respect to the Earth's movement about the Sun, the speed is not constant - its orbital speed varies by as much as 1,000 miles per hour throughout the year depending on its distance from the Sun. However, the range of orbital speeds remains the same from one year to the next on account of space being a vacuum; there is nothing to inhibit the Earth's movement & thus slow it down.

I hope this helps.

Actually earth is not moving at a constant speed.According to Kepler's first law of motion, the earth moves around the sun in an elliptical orbit with the sun at the focus. The distance of the earth from the sun therefore varies in the course of the year, the earth being nearest to the sun in winter and farthest from the sun in summer. The nearest point of the orbit is called perigee and the farthest point the apogee.
According to Kepler's second law of planetary motion, the area covered by the radial distance from the sun per unit time is constant. This means that earth moves faster in its orbit in winter(perigee position) than in summer(apogee position).Because,in order to keep the area covered constant, the earth has to move fast in the nearest position and move slowly in the farthest positon from the sun.

But it does go faster sometimes, and slower sometimes, as it moves around the center of the solar system.

It moves faster when it is closer to the Sun, in early January.
On January 5th, speed will be 109,074 km/hr.

It moves slower when it is farther away, 6 months later.
On July 5th, speed will be 105,407 km/hr.

Actually it does go faster and slower at different points in its orbit. Remember the orbit is elliptical, so this must be the case. Only for a perfect circle is acceleration constant.

Some force is needed to speed up or slow down motion

travelling through space, there is little out there to affect a mass as huge as the earth.

A body in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. Unless there is an outside force, the earths motion is constant.

the earth is slowing down, it sped up when it was just a ball of lava, and got hit by a huge meteor, which made the moon. that impace hit us at an angle and sped us up, which sped up our cooling process. we spin slightly faster than other planets but as i said, we are slowing down. eventually it will reach a steady speed, of about 25 hours per full spin.
