Ok so over this past summer my car would leak the condensation from the a/c onto the floor where your feet go on my passenger side. It even got a little swampy. Procrastinator that I am, I didn't clean it up. Yes, I'm sure it was condensation, a friend who is a mechanic told me I probably just need to clean out the vent it would normally go through because debris from the road will clog it occasionally. Anyway, at this point how do I go about cleaning up this mess? Should I pull up the rug? If so , how , and what do I use to clean it, and how? Might seem silly, but I'm kind of afraid of what I'll find under there, I'm expecting mold. I know, disgusting, please help!

If you want to truly fix the problem get the vent hole opened first. Now you should remove the entire front carpet and ant insulation underneath and scrub everything with a long stiff bristle brush with WISK and a touch of ammonia and hot water.

When your sick of scrubbing hang the carpet on a clothesline, latter or tree branch and rinse everything with a garden hose till you see no suds running off the carpet.

There's absolutely no sense in cleaning the carpet without cleaning the carpet. Do one important thing for me first before doing anything.

This may sound gross to you but you or someone else must do the following: Run a finger tip across the damp carpet. Place your wet finger on the tip of your tongue. If you taste a very sweet sensation your heater core is leaking antifreeze on your carpet. The heater core is right behind the right side glove box bolted on the firewall. This needs to be replaced.

If you have been regularly ( monthly of bi-monthly) adding antifreeze to your coolant recovery tank to maintain proper coolant level you have a definite leak in your cooling system.
