I'm 38 weeks along (10 days from my due date) with my first baby (A boy!). For the last month or so Ive been getting Braxton Hix contractions regularly. Yesterday they started to change though.

Before my contractions went away or faded when I would lay down or walk.

Well what does it mean when they get stronger when you walk and lay down, BUT lose consistency when you sit?

I walk around and lay down and it gets more painful and worse. Then I sit down for 20 minutes and the start to become irregular and not rely painful again.

Only to just kick back up and start hurting badly again when I lay down or walk around for a little while...

Is it just me or is this @$$ backwards?

Its been like this sense yesterday afternoon. I tried to sleep but whenever I lay down it becomes rely rely painful.
Trust me Ive tried ever different position in the book. I spent 10 hours in bed waking up and trying to reposition myself to be able to sleep. Used every pillow and no pillows, nothing helps!

The same thing has been happening to me the past week or so too. I was told not to go to the hospital until they were 3 mins apart or they started to get really painful.

They also told me this is also very common if you have had more than 1 pregnancy

Sounds like early labor to me. Contractions that dont stop when you lay down, and are only easier to endure when walking, are labor contractions.

If they become very regular, or grow in intensity, or get to be 3 minutes apart, call your OB.

Theres no reason to rush to the hospital any time you're in labor, its less stressful to do as much labor at home as you can. But if quick labors run in your family, you're very regular with contractions, or your water broke, you need to be monitored.

You are in early labor. There is little that can be done to give you comfort right now, or to move things along. You can try to meditate and things like a warm bath, as long as your water is not broken. Now is the time to try to relax and go with it.

Heather ive been keepin up with your questions now...i think you really either need to call a doctor or call the labor and delivery where you will be having your baby. its hard to say what is going on but you could be going into labor ok?
