I am a true 9er fan and hate to speak so negatively about MY team, but Coach Nolan has got to go. It is blatant that Smith can't handle pressure and the offensive line is not doing him any favors. But when are the coaches suppose to step in. Alex is going to get hurt badly if he continues to play .. regardless if it's on the field or a hostile fan. >:0 When Coach Nolan proclaimed at the beginning of last season, that he "has total faith in Smith," I knew it was all downhill from there. He needs another religion at this time.

I am not a 9ers fan but Alex Smith has got to go. I would look at the Ohio State quarterback or the qb from Kentucky in next year's draft.

The year of Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers for qb was just a bad draft year.

Nolan's mentality needs to change. Remember, he was the defensive coordinater for the Ravens, and their D was so good, the offense didn't really need to do much. Right now he has a pretty good defence, but not a great one, so he still needs to go after points with the offense, not just play conservative and let the defence keep you in the game. I think they are to injured to do much now, but at the start of the season he needed to open up the offense more, he got Jackson, Lelie and Davis for a reason. Utilize them a lot more and that would have opened up the run game better.

I think Alex Smith has been hurt by not having a single above average reciever, not to mention a game breaking WR. I think they went wrong in not upgrading the offense and not getting a better replacement for Norv Turner. He had that team going well on offense last fall, but Jim Hostler, his replacement only got the job because they wanted to keep the same system in place. However, Alex will never be better than a NICE NFL QB. He was not #1 pick material but the niners took him because they said we gotta have a qb thats what we are known for. However, looking back at that draft, who is not impressive in that class up in the top:
1. Alex Smith, QB 49ers
2. Ronnie Brown, RB, Dolphins
3. Braylon Edwards, WR, Browns
4. Cedric Benson, RB, Bears
5. Cadillac Williams, RB Bucs

Other than Cadillac and Braylon-who are at best inconsistent, what was there for them to get

I would move Alex Smith, get a cheap vet qb who has starting experience and ability, then go after a qb next year (09). I would re-do the entire recieving corps and add to my secondary.

Alex Smith is obviously no longer the respond at QB. except you have a thoroughly dominating protection like the Ravens did in 2000 to win great Bowl XXXV with Trent Dilfer (???), you could desire to have a solid quarterback to be triumphant interior the NFL. The Niners have solid receivers (Crabtree and Davis) and a solid working back (Gore). yet, Smith is mediocre at maximum suitable. And the remainder of the team (extremely the protection) isn't solid sufficient to hold him. nevertheless, you could still think of a team led via Mike Singletary could be a solid one at last. That area i don't get. i could incredibly opt for to have a pacesetter like Singletary for the Chargers. Norv Turner is a huge offensive play caller. yet, he lacks hobby and fire (or a minimum of the skill as an example it), which comes by using interior the play via his team.

I've been a 49er fan for 50 years. Stuck with them when they were terrible. Their big problem is now with the offense and it's NOT Alex. It's the offensive coordinator. They have two rookie coordinators this year. Defense will be OK but offense never will with this guy. Get an experienced guy in there and let him work it out without interference from Nolan.

The 49'ers started on their downward spin since the former owner was forced to leave the team, because of his connection with the mobs

I have no idea. Looked to be on the rise after a promising start by Nolan.

That NFC West division is right there for the taking. And they should be doing better than what they are.

They hired Dick Nolan, he drafted Alex Smith and it just continues to spiral downward.
