That's a tough question.... I believe you can pretty much narrow it down to the beginning of Bush's presidency and the start of the war in Iraq. So many people torn between whether it was the right thing to do or not. So many politicians reps/dems coming out after the war and changing their views about the war. Bush had a lot of cabinet members, advisers and such resign after going into war. I believe this has really added to the split and irritation right now we are seeing between rep's/Dem's. Not too mention was have way more Rep talk show hosts out there....Rush Limbpuke, Shawn "hating" Hanity..etc fueling the fire of hate .... I'm not really old enough to go back in history to know if there was ever this much division in Rep's/Dem's, but I have never heard anything from history to suggest such a division. As to how we could unite, well it's basically going to take an act of God or a miracle to unite this America. I'm afraid that the way things look it's going to get much worse before it gets better. It's really going to take a massive destruction to bring people together I think.

Don't get caught up in the hype. Look at their actions, these 2 parties have never been more similar. Bill Clinton signed the NAFTA agreement and restructured welfare, these are not democratic actions. Bush started a medicare drug program. What is going on is like reality TV, not really what's going on. If people believe that what we're hearing or seeing is what is real we are in real trouble. The American people need to return to the days when they could think for themselves based on observation not what we are told by pundits and/or TV and radio hatemongers. Divide and conquor is a theory that is being used on the American public and seems to be working better than is good for us. They make us think our votes matter but then they all are bought and paid for by corporations and do what's in there best interests over ours every time, and we just go along with anything they want us to believe. We need to be able to indentify our enemies better or we will be paying a big price in the end.
