I'd like to write a letter to the president, and let him know how much I appreciate all of his hard work and dedication to our country, but wonder if he would actually receive it himself. Is it worth a try?

Most, if not all, correspondence to presidents, representatives and senators are read by staff members. However, those staffers do pass on some letters from time to time, especially ones that are hand written and are sincere. I don't agree with your opinion of the prez., but go for it. It might do him some good to hear something nice for a change and everybody needs a little encouragement sometime. Good luck!

My brother wrote a letter to the president and about a month later he got a response. I think it is a great idea. The president has the hardest job in the country. It would be nice to get a little praise from somebody since there are so many people out there that hate the president. If you do write to him, though, be patient, it takes a while to process the letters.
Good luck!

I send him emails with similar sentiments every few weeks.
I'm too lazy to write, but agree it's a nice touch and encourage you to do so.
If you'd like to pick up the regular emails at some point, here's the address:

It so easy just to drop a line whenever the mood strikes you. I think George deserves as many positives as he can get!

Yes, you should do it. He has aids that read all the letters, and they summarize them for the president. A hand written letter would be good. I know he will appreciate it. In fact, you inspired me to do the same thing! Thank you!

It's always worth a try. There is a good chance if you are truly going to write that. The slightest down side and I'd bet he wouldn't get it.

I think it is a wonderful sentiment and he is apprised of correspondence - especially positive and genuine comments.
I do appreciate President Bush and his leadership and Richard R. I thank you for your gracious and respectful disagreement. What a nice place Yahoo! Answers would be if everyone who disagreed did it as nicely as you!!! :-)
