PNAC- I totally agree that republicans lack a real spine when it comes to standing up for what is right. The democrates just dont care for Americans anymore. They talk a mean "I LOVE AMERICA" rant but it's all Talk only!

Well, to hear some of your Party mates tell it, Democrats do it to court the "illegal immigrant" vote (which makes no sense to me, we can't get registered voters to vote what illegal is going to risk exposure and deportation to VOTE, but whatever), and Democrats can oly think, since Republicans are so Pro-Business and Pro-Profit, any stoppage of migrant workers (who are actually temporary workers, picking lettuce and such- when's the last time YOU worked on a farm for what these migrant workers get paid? Farms wouldn't even HIRE you, because you wouldn't TAKE the conditions these people work under) would only raise the costs of growing and harvesting their crops, meaning a large to HUGE hike in fresh fruit and vegetable retail prices, which would also hurt the poor in this country (or encourage them to grow their own), who have already seen the buying power of their dollar drop so much it won't even buy a dollar's worth of CANADIAN goods anymore.
But you have a point about why would any immigrant take the legal immigration (i.e., citizenship) route. I can answer that, too, I believe.
It is a "survival of the fittest" thing. Harsh conditions cull the weak from the group. The ones who come into the country legally and apply for citizenship and do all the correct steps to achieve it really will value their citizenship, not take it as lightly as born into the system Americans do. They will last in this country, while the illegals, who take the easy way out and come across illegally, will always be looking over their backs, always wondering if TODAY is the day he or she gets caught and deported. They spend what little money they earn at "2% Payroll Check Cashing" establishments, because you need a Social Security number to have a bank account. And then, in the end, they will have not one thing to show for a lifetime of backbreaking work done in infathomable conditions.

And they have for over 20 odd years been debating the issues. As long as Teddy Kennedy has been running around. Both sides skirt the issues. No one willing to remove, resolve nor address. Just move on.org....
The ideas about some sort of in between are being addressed by candidates. It is the language that ties y'all into knots. Amnesty. No free pass... but like hearing gun control when gun "monitoring " is implied all heck breaks loose.

The pendulum has swung so far to the left that now it is unacceptable to even call an illegal "illegal'. They are simply "undocumented". If you commit other crimes you can lose your right to hold office or have a drivers license, even if you are a citizen. But we are unwilling to hold these non-citizens to the same standards. Soon this purvasive sentiment will filter down to child rearing. No discipline, no rules or limitations... It's gonna be anarchy friends. If you think I'm kidding check out Canada where in many cases simply proclaiming the Gospel is legaly considered "hate speach" because it places limits on behavior.

For years jobs in the United States are being "Outsourced" or "Farmed out" to other countries. Legal Americans now having to deal with the fact that respectable wage jobs are gone, they must adjust to lower wages, lower cost housing, etc. Further decline of the United States will continue because illegals will work for substandard wages, etc. Candidates running for president are supported by special interests and executives who profited by this situation and want to make sure they will continue to profit by supporting candidates keeping this ajenda.

Maybe you haven't looked at all of the candidates running for President. Ron Paul is against amnesty for illegals, wants to secure the borders and bring America's jobs back to the US citizens.
Here is what Ron Paul has to say:
Border Security and Immigration Reform
The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked.
This is my six point plan:
Physically secure our borders and coastlines.
We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.
Enforce visa rules.
Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.
No amnesty.
Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.
No welfare for illegal aliens.
Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.
End birthright citizenship.
As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.
Pass true immigration reform.
The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.

I agree with you completely. But like one pundit said. "What's the point of securing the borders if were just going to let the enemy come over and speak on our college campuses?"
Of course I don't agree with this completely, but Eisenhower who is credited with prosecuting the war in Europe(WWII) became President of Columbia University in 1948. He certainly would not have allowed Hitler to come and speak. Both the politicians and the academicians need to get a grip.
