This position would require me to relocate, so I confirmed that I would be taking the position, and they've confirmed the salary, relocation, sign-on bonus over the phone. I followed up earlier in the week and their HR advised that he had just received the final signature and the offer letter/package was being overnighted to me. That was Monday, today is Saturday. We had confirmed my start date and I have already given my two weeks in my current position. I plan to call and follow up again on Monday, but I am worried that this is taking so long!

Edit: I gave my two weeks because they gave me the start date, and told me to give my two weeks at that time. HR also acknowledged that I would be freaking out without the offer in writing and told me not to worry...

Take it easy, the only reason to worry is that the "personal dept." is run by a bunch of nitwits.

Ok a few things that you should, yes HR can be slow. However you should have never given your two weeks based on a verbal ok. None of that counts unless you have it in writing. Since they havent given you it in writing, they can pull the plug at anytime. It is possible that you have nothing to worry about , but I would get a plan b going.

At the very least, have their HR dept e-mail you a confirmation of employment. Without a written document to confirm your employment I too would be concerned. Good luck.
