Remember when Reagan asked this in the 1980 campaign? (Reagan asked if you were better off than 4 years ago).

How about now, are you and your country better off than in 2000?

Honestly I do not think so... our politicians are daily subverting our constitional freedoms and committing acts of treason by attending secret Bilderberg meetings and forcing laws into action that do not properly go through Congress. Then, when that little indiscretion is discovered, congress looks the other way in the interest of protecting their own jobs. We are constantly sending good money after bad, meanwhile our children and our own citizens are hungry and oppressed. All the while, people here are believing the deceptions being told to them as they call what they are programmed not to believe is propaganda. When propaganda has a basis of fact, it is not propaganda anymore. Time to Wake Up people.

Imagine how much better off this country would be if the trillions of dollars sent to other countries was being spent on the betterment of the American People. Furthermore, how much better off we would be if we had a government that was genuinely for the people. These people are only interested their own agendas, and have neglected the agendas of we the people.

The sad thing about this is that no one wants to stand up and say something about it, for fear of reprisal. Our nation has become something I certainly did not vote to be... the cops of the world... and in doing so have traded our values for a life of servitude to a machine that simply does not work.

No.

The Constitution of the United States of America has been flushed down the toilet as the result of the Commander In Chief's criminal negligence of his Constitutional responsibilities.

The separation of powers as delineated in the Constitution have been violated and the United States is effectively being ruled by a serial monarchy at this time.

Future generations not only will be saddled with the irresponsible debt that has been run up by the current administration and this generation, they will also have to fight to restore the Constitution and specifically the Bill of Rights.

Our government has been taken over by the International Corporate Fascist Movement like a fatal case of dysentery.

Our economy is on the brink of an Argentine style collapse and is only being propped up by cosmetic measures.

Those in control of this country are loyal to the Saudi Royal Family, United Arab Emirates, Ratputin, the military industrial complex monopolies, Mexican oligarchy, Chinese Communist gangsters, Syong Yung Moon etc, not the American people.

Well the economy is larger, more people own homes, unemployment is lower. On the other hand, we have more illegal aliens and we are at war. But it's hard to say. I certainly am, but statistically, when a particular person is 7 years older they should be better off financially. In generally, it look like more people are spending money on non-necessities (large over-powered vehicles, second homes, extravagant vacations, etc), nobody seems to conserve fuel despite rising prices... so I would say financially yes.

Yes and no. Our mortgage is lower and our cars are paid for, and a good thing they are as the price of gas and food have gone up drastically. We don't use credit cards and pretend we are doing good like a lot of people we know and we don't buy a bunch of Chinese junk and use shopping as a recreational activity. We do have less to spend on things we'd like to have because of the increases in costs of living and wages that don't reflect that increase.

When Reagan asked that question, most of the problems in America were self inflicted. Today's situation is much more complicated.

Nope, our country is less secure, our economy stinks, our president sleeps with both his vice president and his real wife the secretary of state while still smoking and snorting crack. Our country deserves better than a theif and idiot for a leader.

You'll have to define "better off" - in terms of economic growth - yes. In terms of Homeland Security - about even.

Absolutely not. 7 years ago we still had a valid constitution. But now bush has begun the process to dismantle it, so take away our freedoms and liberty.

Those that are saying "YES", DO YOU LIVE IN THE SAME USA that I live in? Because I'm not seeing how a never ending war and biggest debt ever is better than when we didn't have a war. Are you serious when you say yes. My God, please try to get your head out of Bush's ***, you are brainwashed completely.
