I'd say volunteer at a church or soup kitchen, if you have a home and are depressed because you don't have a familly then go help those families that are depressed because they don't have a home. Merry christmas. and have you thought about becoming foster parents? not just to babies and children but seniors as well? there are many seniors out their alone for christmas go visits them and bring them some joy.

This is great time to visit a local school and ask the principal if there is a particular family that you could "adopt" this Christmas. Meaning a family with 2 kids or so that you can buy gifts for.
There are teachers around here that do that themselves for a family each year and I think it's such a great idea. The principal can contact the parents in mind and have them ask their children to make Christmas lists.
Then you and your wife become a secret Santa. There are so many kids this year that won't receive anything, have parents going through bad times (money or divorce) and this is a way to give back.

Go skiing, go on a cruise, travel to a foreign country, volunteer to work with a homeless shelter to make the children's christmas better. Throw a huge open house on christmas day for others who dont have family to spend it with. Ask everyone to bring a gift to donate to a childrens home or nursing home.

My hubby and I are taking a 2-week road trip this Christmas throughout the Western US. We don't have kids either, but we are just ditching our families for some alone time.

My wife and I are going to be apart for three weeks spanning the entire christmas holiday. We both have plenty of family and let me tell you, it will not compensate for a moment being aprt from each other.
My suggestion would be to spend every moment truly appreciating how lucky you are to have found each other and to be healthy, alive and together this holiday season.
