The first hamburgers were made and sold in Connecticut in 1895 by an American chef, Louis Lassen. He called them hamburgers because he was given the recipe by sailors from Hamburg in Germany. Hamburgers became popular in America in the early part of the 20th century.

Because it was a version of a food called a Hamburg Steak that orignated in Hamburg Germany. Can't remember the year but I think it was late 1800's.

HAMBURGERS, ARE FROM HAMBURG. wheras crimson meat burgers can come from everywhere, and incorporate something that remotely resembles crimson meat, crimson meat burgers are no longer hamburgers, 1st baron beaverbrook burgers are the closest issue to a actual hamburger. regards LF
