my husband and my sister have been fighting for the longest time!!

i can remember 6 years ago when i met him in highschool. he was the really funny-cool guy, i was the quiet girl, and he always reffers to her as "the B*itch who just started insulting me one day" and ever since she did, they've always been going on and off like saying one word to each other meant an arguement. now, back to the present, we have our own appartment now and my sister always stops by in the morning to have breakfast (i love those moments) but when my husband wakes up to join i just pray my sister wont say anything to start a fight and hopefully my daughter is already on the bus to school. i find that its kinda funny at times, when i turn my back on those two and look back, he'll already have her in a headlock and she'd be hitting him with a cup. i guess its just how our family is, but yet i still feel like maybe there's a way to change that, just so things are more peaceful. please read the additionals.

now, im wonder just what is it i can do to get them to stop fighting all the time. i dont want to leave them in a couciler's office or somthing because im really one of the only ones that can break up those two. also, it may not be important but long ago, those two were actually really locked into each other, meaning to say that somehow, they once had love for each other. so thats another reason i dont want those two alone. he's a sweetheart, and she's kind of a ****

What a strange family. Does your sister have breakfast with you EVERY day? Why? Do you and your husband not have any time alone without sis being gooseberry? Sounds a bit unhealthy to me. If this has been going on for 6 years then it's going to be very difficult to change the habit without upsetting her. Does your husband REALLY enjoy these daily arguments or is he just putting up with your feisty sister to please you....because you 'just love those moments'? Do you really? Also, are you saying your sister was once his girlfriend?? If so, I wouldn't leave them together either. They both sound a little too tactile for my liking.

All you can do is ask them to stop because it hurts you to see them fighting. It is childish and immature and they need to grow up. It is very disrespectful of your sister to come over to your home and start bad-mouthing your husband, especially in front of your daughter. If she can't say something nice, tell her it would be best if she stays away until she can learn some respect. Your husband needs to grow a thicker skin and ignore her. He also needs to know that you will take a stand in this problem rather than sit back and say nothing.

As you said they once had love for each other. Maybe one of them felt a little more then just friend love. In this case it is better to fight then be friends because if they were friends the one person may want to do more then that.
If you truly want them to stop tell them both you love them and that you are tired of this childish fighting and that you are not going to put up with it any more. Tell them that you have had enough of it!

You've got to be kidding! You let your sister come into your house to fight with your husband? Threaten that if she cannot respect you, your husband your child, GET THE F OUT!

Too immature. It's time to grow up and get some control!

WOW. The last time I answered a question like this I got myself in trouble with Yahoo because I was too honest. I'm not touching this one with a ten foot pole.
