The best thing you can do with her is talk to her all day long, and be repetitive.
I'm with her all day, mostly just the two of us, and this is what I do:
Everything I do, I explain to her. Like, "mommy is making breakfast now. We take the oatmeal out of the cubboard, and take a spoon out of the drawer..."
Or "let's go change your diaper now, what did you do? Pou pou...or pee pee..".!!LOL. Now she tells me everytime on her own if it's #1 or #2.
Also she plays peek a boo (she loves that), claps her hands, waves, hugs, kisses and says smooch, she dances and sings, and says a few easy words. She can communicate by using signs, and simple words.
It's amazing how fast they pick things up, and remember them too.
For me repetition is what's worked best. I keep saying "What's this? It's a sock!" And I keep saying it over and over again, until finally she repeats it.
My little one will be 11 months in about a week. Wouldn't it be cool to introduce them?
They 're going to be a year in just another month!!! Our babies grew up Rockmum :)

Certainly learning body parts and any common objects around the house. They may not be able to say the words but they understand what your talking about. You can also teach her some simple sign language such as drink, eat, milk, more, diaper, etc. Especially helpful with feedings too. My daughter had probably about 10 signs that we used regularly before she truly started speaking, the of course went by the wayside (tho we've started reminding her of them and trying to teach her more. I'll be starting my boys (11 mos. as well) very soon. Good luck.

I would focus on having fun, and not learning or 'skill abilities.' Your child wil llearn what she thinks is valuyable. I keep a running narrative all day long I talk about what we're doing. My 2 1/2 year old can hold conversations with adults, and my 9 month old is almost completely non verbal. Kids have different interests, it's our job to expose them to as many new ideas and items as they need. And to be happy and have fun with it :) Enjoy these times! They are so beautiful.

My 9 month old is learning anatomy. He knows head, ears, face, eyes, nose and mouth. We play that game a lot.
He's learning objects, and knows what certain toys are called.
We're also working on colors. Its not a sit down learning time, its just when we're playing.
If you always talk to her, and tell her whats in the world around her, she'll pick it up real fast.

We worked a lot on sign language at that age. Simple things like I love you, toilet, drink, hungry. It was really fun and they caught on really quick.
At that age we used to do a lot of coloring in. So we worked on colours, but would have to say they never really got the hang of it until about 20 months.
I bought these awesome flip cards at Spotlight, which showed things that match. Like milk & cow, bucket& shovel. They wasn't cheap, but I would say they are worth every cent! We recently got the sound ones, which are excellent. The sound cards actually make the noise, like moo, and the boys find a cow to go with it.
They have got colour, sounds, things that go together, sh sounds, and ABC. I love them.
At 11 months my boys went through the horrible stage of not wanting mummy to feed them. :( It was so sad, and we taught them how to use their spoon probably.

Dancing! My 7 month old son loves us to 'dance' with him. He's just started cruising, so we just stand him on our laps or the floor with some music on and help him dance, he loves it! :)
I'm working on clapping now though! He can kiss now, and is just getting the wave thing! You could try nodding and shaking the head too - Finley nods if he wants something!!
