Religion is the cause of the problem it seeks to correct.
Religion is a form of separation. In effect it is a great sorting tool. It separates people into groups and tells them all that their group is the correct one and that all others are faulty.
Separation is the problem. We need desperately to start recognizing the way we are all interconnected. We are truly one. All relying on each other to have a productive peaceful world to live in. We need things to bring us together, not things that point out the differences.

Hi,
Unfortunately yes! If religion wasn't a matter of controversy we would all share the same religion. Sadly controversy also leads to war. War in the name of religion. That I cannot and will not ever understand. To me, to follow a religion, is to follow a path of love, peace and understanding. No doubt another comment of controversy!

Only when everyone insists there way is the only true way. A quick look at history will prove this. Every crusade & every jihad, every holy war is a way of saying we are right and you are doomed. We have our own little "holy wars" that happen in R&S. A quick browse in that section should answer this question for you. It is a real pity, most of the major religions no longer resemble the teachings of their founders.

Any topic can be controversial.
I believe there is evidence for godlike intelligences, and there is plenty of people who claim to experience miracles or religious experiences. There is even evidence that we are born with religious tendencies.
To me there is evidence that God (or a similar entity) may exist but this does not mean everything done in God' name would be approved of by God.

Mostly tragedy. The tragedy of lost certainty is included.

No. It is grandmother/father stories for the children and adult wishes to be controlled and to transfer responsibility. The greedy preachers are filling a need, as well as their coffers.
