I'm going out to buy more books today, and I'm not sure what to get.
I like a wide variety of books, though I can be pretty picky at times.
I like:
- The Nanny Diaries
- Harry Potter
- Gossip Girl sometimes
- Jodi Picoult's books
- A couple of Meg Cabot's books
I like longer books with good plots, like Jodi Picoult's books and the Nanny Diaries, but I like the more humorous ones, like the Nanny Diaries, though I'm not really a fan of the 'chick lit' category. I also like books about big cities. (London, New York,...)
Also if it helps, tv-wise, I'm a fan of the OC, Beauty and the Geek, One Tree Hill, and America's Next Top Model.
Help?!

You come across as a prolific reader. Yet you never mention a 'classic'. The reason they are classics is because they have stood the test of time. Generations later, people are still reading them, so there must be some reason.....
Try;-
Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
War & Peace - Tolstoy (Long, & hard work at times - but worth it)
The Old Man & The Sea - Hemmingway. Shortish, but moving.
Cancer Ward - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Anything by Joseph Conrad. (Life at sea)
The following are more modern, but well worth reading;-
Catch 22 - Joseph Heller - amusing
Three Men in a Boat - Jerome K Jerome - really funny.
Thornbirds - Colleen McCullough.
The last is enjoyed by everyone who has read it, male or female. It is heart-rending, but at other times really uplifting. To the extent it was made into a film.
Whatever you chose, good luck. It is nice to know that there is still someone out there that can find enjoyment other than sitting in front of a box or a monitor.

I'm not sure if you'll like these books. If you like fantasy, try the Pendragon series. It makes a lot more sense if you read them in order, but I don't think you can buy the 1st one in stores anymore. I'm not sure. I love these books, I didn't want to read them at first, I just started because I had to read something for school, but I ended up loving them. I started from my mom, who started from my brother.
If you want to know what they're about...
This kid, Bobby Pendragon, goes to different world-like places called territories. He battles evil and prevents the territories from having a turning point. (like a war)
I don't know, I think they're a LOT better than my summary makes them seem.

The god of literature.... Terry Pratchett. I read my first Pratchett book at thirteen and I haven't stopped laughing since. If you enjoy fantasy i'm sure you'll love his works. I suggest starting with 'Guards! Guards!'.

OH seeing what you like you'll have to try Stephenie Meyer. Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse. New moon wasn't as good, but whatever. Good enough.
