Well, being an old mechanic that comment is brutal at best. If you don't believe the guy, get another opinion and prove it as not all of us want to rip grumpy-*** old men off. I've done these and it is a royal pain to do. Taking these front diff out and re-installing is a real challenge even when equipped with a hoist. After you get that out of the way you have to unbolt the through bolt of the motor mount and jack the motor up which might mean removing a bunch of top stuff so as not to damage it when doing this. As I remember there should be three bolts holding the mount to the block and two are accessible and the other you have to cut off. I'd love to watch you do this and drink beer while you do. Let me know where you live and I'll come over with my cooler to enjoy the day!!

I own a shop, and claim to be a mechanic, and you are right God Bless Our Troops!!! I would go to another mechanic. The way I would approach this problem is like this; I would jack the vehicle up, remove the front tire, and remove the inner fender well. This gives you all the room in the world to get at that pesky motor mount. Removing the stuff under the engine is a way to do it, but that would take all day, and a lot of work. In my years of working on vehicles, I have learned to work smarter, not harder.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Bless our troops, too!! I would pick up a service manual like Chilton or Haynes for your vehicle at a parts store....run about 25.00 or libraries sometimes have them for free. Eautorepair.net has online access to factory manuals for a small fee. A good service manual is a great source of info when doing your own repairs and can easily pay for itself in one major repair. Just be real careful to block the engine up solidly if you're getting your hands under it to remove the mount. Maybe get price quotes from other shops for the repair.

not an eazy job. its better to pay a mechanic. all motor mounts should be replaced at the same time.
