Do you know what's wrong with this question and many of the answers? It tries to make people believe liberals want everyone to be "poor", that is so far from the truth it's pitiful. You folks speak of "liberals" being communists and socialists, while business interests in our country, the ones republicans proudly refer to as being capitalists, slowly but surely consolidate their power, shape the public's thinking and raise prices through the roof, so one person can make fifty, a hundred million a year, all the while keeping a considerable portion of Americans one step beyond the poverty level in the process. Our beloved capitalism is sucking the life out of America all so a small percentage of people can become obscenely wealthy and powerful. Wake up guys, one third of America is two or three paychecks away from being in deep trouble.

This debate over liberal taxation is crazy and has no basis in reality. I am not a liberal. I am a moderate. So, I look at things a bit more objectively than most people seem to do.
Here's the presidents of the USA under which taxes have been increased in America since FDR.
FDR increased taxes for the war.
Eisenhower increased taxes to built the interstate highway system.
Nixon increased taxes to balance the budget.
The first president Bush increased taxes to cover shortfalls caused by the Reagan tax cuts.
That's it. Three out of four were Republicans.
Historically, Democrats haven't increased taxes. They have, however, increased spending without increasing taxes. They are notorious for cutting military spending to fund social programs. This is what happened during Clinton's term.
The fact is, you cannot have a guns and butter economy at the same time. The sad fact is, we will always have to have a strong defense for our country. We cannot provide this defense and social programs the likes of those in parts of Europe. Our economy just can't support both.
European nations spend only a fraction of the GDP on defense as compared to the USA. They depend on the USA to help defend them.
Anyway to get back to your concern, it isn't likely the Democrats if elected will raise your taxes for any new social programs. They will try to fund it with existing revenues, which in the end will short fund another area much like defense.

No one wants to take money away from those who are earning it .
Try factoring in the costs of what it takes to get your workers to the job and the supplies they will be working with .
Most people are unaware that two rates exist for utility companies .
Businesses pay a substantially lower rate then residential customers .
Businesses pay lower costs that are past on to residential customers for water and sewage .
So not only do workers pay for the car to get them to work but for the gas and maintenance of the vehicle the insurance and to build and repair the roads . Because the business needs a building they also have to pay the mortgage and taxes on it and for maintaining the grounds around it and for cleaning it .
Because before the owner of the business can make a single penny of profit the workers have to make enough products to sell to cover all those expenses .
Now after 5 years to pay back loans for those business owners who build a structure the employees have paid for this with their labor . Now does the company suddenly begin to pay them more .
Often owners of such businesses sell them and reap the profits of the land and building and of the workers .
So give me a break when you say that taxing the rich is some how a crime . When truth be told they have taken unfair advantage of the people who have labored but never been fully rewarded for their work .

I guess you mean at what level the Liberals believe taxes should be very high? If that's what you mean, I would guess it depends on the size of the family. Some people think $150,000 to $200,000 per year is rich and think this should be the cut-off for very high taxes. But if you are a family of four, live in D.C., NY or any major city in California and own an "average" home, you are not very well off at all, especially if you want you children to go to college.

Ridiculous question. Almost half the country consider themselves somewhat "liberal", so if that were in any way the case, the economy would have collapsed long ago. Besides, I don't want other people's money. I just don't want children to starve IN AMERICA. Get a ******* life.

How much money does a Republican majority in Congress spend before Americans realize that the party of conservatism is the party of reckless financial management?

Get a clue. Democrats will tax you for it; Republicans will steal it from you at the check out counter and call it "good business." In any event, you still don't have the money.

From what I am hearing from the left....anything over providing the bare necessity of life, is fair game....
Lets see, you have worked all your life....by the sweat of you brow....and now you have a surplus that is...well, just greedy....
Why don't we take what you have worked for and give it to those unwilling to work....sounds about right....
This is the pure definition of Communism...
A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members.
Why are the radical left unable to understand this very basic fact....?
There is someone that posted an answer who only wants it to be "liberal or Democrat" when it comes to being "caught"...in an "wide stance"....hypocrite.
