'Touch wood"
(ie, you have to touch a wood object, if you want a negative thought NOT to happen).
It works!
Why?
Because the act of touching wood - doing something positive - dispells negative thoughts, and helps your concentration.
I do it every time I am about to get on my motorcycle, and will take my gloves off again and find a piece of wood, if I forget. I also carry a small sliver of wood in my pocket, and tap my pocket if I think a negative thought while riding.

My only accidents occurred when I forgot to 'touch wood'.
