Blue T is correct as well as well as those that said Yahoo groups. I am not so sure of treasure magazine. Coin World and Numismatic News are weekly coin papers that keep collectors up to date on what is going on with coins as well as medals and tokens some what. You can also see if there is a coin club in your area. The numismatic field is actually huge and you need to visit some coin dealers and just look at what they have and see what you think you would like to get into. These days most series have one or more coins that are very expensive and that stops people with smaller budgets to complete those sets. If you are from the U.S. the Jefferson nickel set can be put together at a reasonable price and a lot can be picked up in change. Another way to go is a 20th century type set or one coin form every country. I will be glad to help in any way, for I try to give back as much as I have taken out of the hobby. I have learned a lot by collecting coins and have made some friends along the way.

Pick up a copy of CoinWorld or Lost Treasure magazines. In them you will find many devoted to the art of coin collecting. Or you can buy the books you need at a bookstore or go to the library and read to your hearts content about all sorts of coins and ways and means of caring for them. Even more now, though you can ask any questions you have here on this site or go to Yahoo Groups and start your own group or possibly join one that supports coin collecting or finding lost treasures of which many many coins falls into that category. Whatever you do, don't become so serious that you forget the reasons you started doing this. Because it is fun, both items: coin collecting and metal detecting for lost coins.
