I'm getting the itch to put them up earlier this year. Usually, I put them up after Thanksgiving. However, I have 2 young kids and I'd like for them to be able to be really excited for more than just 30 days. Is putting them up this weekend or next too early?

When do you hang up your Christmas decorations?

I start on Nov 1. Your house, your rules. Doesn't matter what anyone else does as long as it makes you happy.

I'm here in Canada, so our Thanksgiving is long over. I'm like you... I love putting them up early. I've collected alot of beautiful Christmas decorations over the years, and I take a good 4 hrs, if not more, to display them all and put up the tree. Since I have 5 cats here, plus two small little feral kittens, I think I'll opt for putting the tree up about a week before Christmas...cause I know they are going to reak havoc on it...lol... All my other decorations will be going up within the next week or so. I love Christmas !!!

he most appropriate time would be after Thanksgiving. (let's just do one holiday at a time). The day after Thanksgiving is considered the busiest day of the year for Holiday shopping because of the sales. My suggestion would be to do all the decorations after Thanksgiving--but not the tree. The tree--save it for the week before Christmas and take it down after New Year's day. The tree swill still be fresh and full for Christmas. Even if you use an artificial tree you just might get tired of looking at it if you put it up too soon. Faye

We have friends who start in September, they have so many to do. We start as soon as all the Halloween decorations are put away. Light up is Friday night after Thanksgiving, although some in our country area do light Thanksgiving night. Dec. 25th is the 1st Day of Christmas, keeping them lit until the 12th day of Christmas in January. (It's an old fashioned tradition).

I usually start putting mine up the day after Thanksgiving, but I am also getting the itch to put them up early this year. Part of me thinks it's too early, but another part of me is saying "hey, the stores had their stuff out 2 days before Halloween, so it can't be too early".

Every year I get comments like "decorating already?" when we put up lights in early November.

Now I don't put anything up other than icicle lights or tree lights or other such 'invisible' things until the 2nd week of November.

Usually, all I have to do is say "wouldn't you rather do it when the weather's still nice" and they usually come back with "man that's a good idea I should start mine..."

right this is a tip, positioned your Christmas lighting fixtures up now, do merely no longer turn them on. Why no longer take earnings of the hotter (in spite of the particular indisputable fact that we merely had snow in PA) climate! Beats mountaineering on an icy/snowy roof or donning awkward gloves in chilly temps. Prep all different outdoor decorations on your storage and pass outdoors once you're arranged. i in my opinion prefer to savor the three end-of-year holiday trips, Halloween, Thanksgiving and yuletide, one after the other. The long weekend after Thanksgiving is as quickly as I beautify for Christmas. happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

I put up my Christmas decorations about a week after Thanksgiving. I like to savor the traditions of our uniquely American holiday for awhile before getting into the Christmas spirit.

December.
You should concentrate on doing Thanksgiving decorations.
Christmas decorations are all ready up in the store.. its totally silly.
I put my decorations up mid December and take them down mid January. It makes the whole house pretty especially in January

I wait until after our little girl's birthday, December 3rd, to start putting out the Christmas decorations. I want her birthday to be special, not looking like part of Christmas.
