If you truly believe that then was it OK for Jesus to be tortured the way he was before he died on the cross? Or for that matter the way the early Christians were tortured by the Romans because the Roman Government believed that the Christians were trying to destroy their way of Life?
Torture is wrong no matter who you are torturing. We are better than this.

ToTiredTrucker: Well if I knew the bomb was in the school and I knew that it was going off at a certain time. I believe I would prevent the children from entering the school or evacuate the school. I don't think I would know this in advsnce which is why you are saying that I should torture my captive to see what he knows. Don't you think that when these peopel are catured that the enemy will Change their plans. So does it make since to turture someone who has Obsolete info or will tell you anything you want to hear so you will stop torturing them.

This is not an episode of "24". This is real Life. Just because you see things on a TV show doesn't mean it will work in real Life.

To regerugged: Always the way of a conservative to try and take the focus off of the discussion by criticizing something that has no bearing on the discussion at hand ie, my grammer. Conservatisives do this because they do not have an answer. The Roman Government at the time felt that the Christians were terrorists. Whether or not they really were is an argument for another time. But they felt threatened by there ideas or beliefs and wanted to stop them from "Destroying their way of Life".

To john m : You are right. The enemy(?) has no live POWs. None of our Men and Women in the military would be in danger now if our presdient had not lied to us to cause us to invade a country that had nothing to do with terrorism. Good ole george didn't even use that argument. He said that Iraq was days away from having a Nuclear Bomb that could reach the US. Nothing about terrorists. But now that we have invaded Iraq it has become a HAVEN for terorists. Thanks george.

G.W Bush has done so much to destroy 200+ years of building our reputation as a law abiding country with liberty and JUSTICE FOR ALL. When the world was sickened by the attacks on 9-11, Bush had for the first time in modern history a chance to unite the world against a single enemy . instead he went against all advice and created more enemies and generations of NEW terrorists by invading Iraq. GOOD GOING BONE HEAD!The day that Idiot Bush was elected will prove to be as dark a day as 9-11!

The fact that seems to be lost on all the 'torture is OK' and 'what if he planted a bomb' crowd is this:
The experts in the field have stated time and again that information divulged through torture is unreliable. The torture victim will tell the torturer what they want to hear. So interrogators spend a lot of time getting bogus information.
I would like ONE PRO-TORTURE poster on YA to show us with a reference link ONE ACTUAL EVENT that was prevented due to information uncovered by torturing a suspect.
ONE ACTUAL EVENT people...

The conservatives need to justify torture, because the fascist dictatorships that they've backed up throughout the 20th century all regularly tortured innocent people. The cons tried to whitewash it.

Sorry but you are not there. If you were placed in the same place you would be doing the same thing. Get off that horse you rode in on.
That The US is doing is mild. It is a mind game not true torture.
Tell me just how many POWs does the other side have?(Live)

would you accept the matter that torture should be used as a form of punishment other than just imprisonment? I mean, i.e the child sex-slavery traffickers; now those children are getting raped many times in one day, every day
don't you think these traffickers deserver more punishment than just imprisonment?...

Your English grammar is less than perfect. Your logic is non-existent. Jesus and his followers were tortured and killed because of religious beliefs. In the US, we celebrate religious freedom.
We are dealing with terrorists who want to kill us because we are not muslims. We have the right to defend ourselves. Anything we do to defend ourselves, our family, our country is legitimate. I expect my government to defend my country. Anything that is done to reach that goal is legitimate.
Tying the hands of people sworn and paid to defend us makes no logical sense. Bleeding heart liberalism has no place on the battle front.

Your concept of torture and the methods being used are very different. They are not pulling prisoners fingernails off with pliers, nor are they attaching electrical wires to testicles.
The "torture" being applied today is mild and hardly even qualifies as torture. Prisoners are made to stay awake for 48 hours (oooh that hurts.) Prisoners are yelled at (oooh that hurts.) Prisoners are made to stay in cells with the temperature at 50 degrees (brrrr.)

If a guy has a bomb planted in a school in a random location, set to go off at a random time, and you catch the guy, but he's not talking. What do you do? Rough him up, or let someone's kids die?
If that's the situation, I say break out the waterboard.
