Your note about mechanics makes me think about weight distribution. Try lying down and rolling to the nearest bank thus distributing your weight over a larger area so the ice will more easily support you.

Lie flat on your belly to spread your weight so you don't break the ice and fall into water in the event of trying to stand on your feet. Breathe three mouth-full breaths to your bare hands. When you place them on the ice surface, the cooling effect will produce some friction between your hands and the ice. This will help you to pull the rest of yourself on the surface. Repeating the action a few more times, you can slide to edge of the ice and then get on land.
OR
If you have some things with you ,which are a little heavy, sit up on the ice and throw the things as far away from you as you can. The push action in throwing the things away gives you an equal but opposite push. Since the surface is very slippery, you will slide towards the edge as far from the original position as does the thrown object. A few more of the throws and you will find yourself at the edge of the pond.

You can skate across a frozen even with your shoes, provided that the ice is strong enough to hold your weight.
Otherwise if the ice cracks and you fall thru you have only a cetain amount ot time before you freeze.
You should not try to experiment on an icy pond it would prove to be very dangerous.

First, I'd get onto my belly thus dispersing my weight over a larger area. 2nd, I'd wiggle my body like a snake using my arms and legs to manuever forward. Next, I'd get frustrated with the slow progress I'm making, stand up, skip along the ice making my way to land all the while whistling the tune to 'All in the Family'.

i'm going to throw the heaviest element I quite have faraway from the closest shore. as simply by conservation of capability, despite momentum the thrown merchandise has, i'm going to have interior the choice path, meaning i'm going to slowly slide in the direction of the close to shore. If it is so slick i'm no longer able to crawl off of the ice, this is going to likely be so slick I won't decelerate as quickly as i'm sliding, so i'm going to ultimately attain the closest shore despite if the heaviest element I could desire to throw is a glove.

-if you happen to have long nails you can scrape your way back to dry land.
-you can sit on the ice in a crablike position and push yourself by wearing your socks with your hands and use them as paddles, though this may tire you and drain your energy especially through the cold.
-if you happen to be stuck with your car/truck/etc. in the middle of an iced body of water, you can tear off all the upholstery in your seat and use them as a makeshift eskimo boot. tie them up using shoelaces or wires found under the dashboard.

Use Newton's third law.
Throw away the objects you are having, blow from your mouth.
As per third law.as you impart momentum to objects you throw or air you blow, hence you will receive equal momentum in opposit direction , you will move and escape out of frozen pond.

Eat something really hot before you do that so that you may fart and the acceleration due to that will drive you towards the corner. The faster you fart the faster you will go. Caution: If you are a big farter, please wear a helmet.
